Words are very powerful. Words can change a man's life positively and negatively as well. Scripture affirms in Proverbs 18:21a says "Death and life are in the power of the tongue. This implies that a man can call forth his destiny alive with his words and likewise kill his destiny with his words.
Our text says thou art snared with the words of thy mouth. The word snared means to be trapped, caught or captured. Can you imagine so many people today who are so religious but trapped. They fast yet they are trapped. They pray for hours but still trapped. Some move from one mountain to the other but trapped still. Have we cared to know why? They don't speak the right words. No words of respect or honor in their mouth. Some talk foolishly. Some disrespectfully, some arrogantly, some angrily e.t.c. Prayer, fasting mountains e.t.c is good but until we know how we use our words in the right way.
Michal, the daughter of Saul and the wife of David got trapped because of the words that came out of her mouth. 2Sam 6:20-23 Remember the two thieves on the cross. They both committed terrible crimes of rape, robbery, kidnapping, killings e.t.c.
Luke 23:39-43 39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. 40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. 42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
Oh my goodness. Just see how a thief who is already at the gate of hell became so fortunate by speaking the right words at the right time and then, the gates of heaven were opened for him. I mean right words. Word that is seasoned with grace. What a fortunate man. Only very few can be this fortunate. The other thief railed and mocked Jesus. He went to hell. Words can set you free. Words can trap you. The words we speak are powerful. No one speaks roughly and end well. If you speak nicely, you will end nicely. If you speak roughly, you will end roughly and shamefully. Choose your words carefully. Choose your words nicely. Choose your words with wisdom, fear and trembling. Don't just talk anyhow. Psalm 19:14 says "Let the words of my mouth and meditations of your Heart be acceptable in thy sight O Lord" Whatever is acceptable and pleasing to God will surely be acceptable and pleasing to man as regards this issue. The words we speak today is coded and recorded. It will speak for us or fight back.
About 22 years ago, I bought a bus for my ministry to run my crusades and other outreaches. The bus was branded "Gospel For Every Nation Ministries Incorporated" Some people including Pastors saw it and laughed me to scorn with derogative, hurting and discouraging words. They made a mockery of me about the Nations. I never replied. Today, the rest is history with some of them seeking my assistance in one thing or the other.
1Sam 2:3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.
Don't destroy your destiny with your words. Don't even use evil words for others. Some people trap there children's destiny with negative words like.. I know you can't do well. I know you can't pass. Who will marry you? I know you are useless and nothing good can come out of you. No matter how spiritual you may be, if you don't know how to speak correctly, the good things of life will elude you. You will loose opportunities. What should have been given to you will go to someone else who is less qualified but whose words is seasoned with respect, honor and grace. My ministry today is not limited to Pentecostal churches alone but to all other denominations in Nigeria and abroad. It is not just anointing that helps my ministry to find expression all around the churches today but words of grace. Word is so powerful. Choose the right words today. Speak the right words of encouragement. One wrong word of heresy can collapse your platforms. For by thy words, thou shall be justified and by thy words, thou shall be condemned. (Matt 12:37)
1. Lord, let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable unto you.
2. O Lord, let the words of my mouth be seasoned with grace always.
3. Father, please give me the right words that will change my destiny for good once and for all. (The thief had the right words and got the last minute mercy"
